Overview
Providing a streamlined and convenient customer experience is important, whether in your showroom or online. Connect serves your shoppers the most relevant interactions, based on their browsing history on your site. However, sometimes Connect can know even more about the user based on how they came to your website.
If a shopper reaches your site from a Google ad promoting a specific offer, they would expect to see information about that offer– not simply be directed to the VDP.
Connect now gives you the ability to do so!
For dealerships using the complete AutoLeadStar platform– this already happens. When an Acquire ad promoting an offer is clicked on, Connect automatically opens with that specific offer expanded. Thus, the shoppers see exactly what they want and do not need to search around the site. Connect will be open to this when the user lands on the site, for example:
Note: Terms and Conditions will also be expanded so as to avoid issues relating to compliance.
The way this works is that specific parameters are dynamically added to the end of every link which instruct Connect to open with the relevant offer. Links would look like this:
https://yourdealership.com/inventory/123456789?alst_action=offer&alst_action_value=w_258
How does it work?
The parameters utilize the unique ID given to each and every offer in your AutoLeadStar account, including OEM, dealership, and website offers. When the parameters are added, Connect understands that it should open with the relevant offer.
When can your dealership use these parameters?
Your dealership can greatly benefit from using these parameters, to provide customers with the ideal experience on your website.
- If you’re not using Acquire– add the parameters to each ad promoting a specific offer
- Add parameters to email blasts that discuss a specific offer
- Add parameters to organic social posts promoting a specific offer
How can you find the parameters?
It is now simple to find the parameters for your offers.
In your AutoLeadStar dashboard, click Data Sources, and then select the category of offers you’d like to find parameters for– OEM Offers or Dealer Offers.
When hovering over an offer, an icon will appear on the right side.
Clicking this icon will copy the parameters to your clipboard. Then, simply paste that parameter to the end of the URL to which you’re driving traffic.
Important Note: the parameters that will be copied to your clipboard do not contain a prefix. If this is the only, or the first, parameter you will be adding to your links, be sure to add a ? before the parameter. If this will be after other parameters (like UTMs), add a & before the parameter.
Example:
https://yourdealership.com/inventory/123456789?alst_action=offer&alst_action_value=w_258
or
https://yourdealership.com/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=sale&alst_action=offer&alst_action_value=w_258
Whenever anyone clicks on that link, Connect will open with the appropriate offer expanded.
